Braintree Selectboard Meeting

February 6, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.



Richard Bowen, Selectboard Chair Brian Jones, Resident

Loren Bent, Selectboard Member Tim Caulfield, Emergency Management Director

Megan O’Toole, Selectboard Member Linda Morse, Resident

Daniel Burson, Selectboard Member Holly Jarvis, Admin. Assistant

Keegan Haupt, Selectboard Member Jeff Masterson, Road Commissioner


Mr. Bowen called the meeting to order at 6:02 pm. Of the Board members, all but Mr. Haupt were present at the beginning of the meeting.  


The Board reviewed the agenda. They moved the Emergency Management Delegation of Authority and VT Alert up to the first part of the agenda.


On motion of Mr. Bent, seconded by Mr. Burson, the Board unanimously approved the minutes of January 24, 2018.


The Board discussed the Emergency Management Delegation of Authority. Some edits were made. It will be reviewed and approved at the next meeting.


VT Alert: the Selectboard discussed the possible adoption of the VT Alert system for the Town. The system allows town emergency managers to alert some or all of the Town’s citizens using phone, email, text or social media through the Vermont State VT Alert system. The issue was tabled until the next meeting to give interested citizens the opportunity to find out more or comment.


Mr. Haupt arrived at 6:10 pm, during the discussion about VT Alert.


Citizen’s Comments-none



  • Highway Report: the Highway Department is doing winter maintenance.


Old Business

  • Town Office Projects update
    • The reordered exterior doors for the town office have come in. They will be installed soon.

New Business

  • New Truck- the Board discussed if sealed bids are needed. They agreed, pursuant to the motion passed by the selectboard on August 15, 2017, that they want sealed bids.


On motion of Mr. Bowen, seconded by Ms. O’Toole, the Board unanimously approved the payment orders.


On motion of Mr. Bent, seconded by Mr. Haupt, the Board adjourned the meeting at 6:41 pm.
